For the first time at an Inverkeithing Arts Initiative’s Art and Craft Market, there will be a candlemaker, Thistle Be Scottish, who produces hand-made candles and melts in a variety of delicious aromas and colours. Candles are in jars, mason jars and in pretty vintage crockery. Candles and melts are soy based. Perfect for helping you to relax after a hard day. Lovely!
Thistle Be Scottish will be at the Artfest ’16 Summer Art & Craft Market on Saturday 18th June from 11am-4.30pm at Inverkeithing Civic Centre Main Hall.
We’ve put lots of photos on our website of all of the participating artists and crafters surrounded by their lovely work – Bloomin’ Marvellous Inverkeithing, May 2015.
These photos were all taken by volunteer Rosie Gibson. Thanks Rosie!
IAI love to mix together all kinds of creative people at our Art and Craft Fairs, from community groups who create for fun, skills-building and community participation, to amateur hobbyists who like the social buzz of meeting with fellow creative folk, to professionals whose creative work provides their livelihood. We think this makes for a fascinating mix, one which caters for all kinds of visitors to the Art and Craft Fair, and for different tastes and budgets.
At the Spring Into Summer Art and Craft Fair on May 2nd, our younger visitors had lots of fun making art works of their own at the kids activity table, and searching for the super-cute wee beasties, hidden at all the artists’ tables – supervised by volunteer Margaret Robertson and helped out by Ollie Kidd.
Each participating maker donated a handmade item for the raffle table.
With many thanks to The Inverkeithing Food Group for collaborating with Inverkeithing Arts Initiative on this event and providing an excellent lunch made from locally sourced ingredients for visitors at the Friary (next door to Inverkeithing Civic Centre). It was extremely popular and received a lot of praise! Thanks also for providing the IAI directors and volunteers with some much needed sustenance. Delicious!
We are delighted to be welcoming My Cherry Pie to Inverkeithing on May 2nd for the ‘Spring Into Summer’ Art and Craft Fair. Come along to the fair and fall in love with this beautiful jewellery…
Saturday May 2nd, 11am – 5pm, Inverkeithing Civic Centre, Queen Street, KY11 1PA.
“I produce a collection of colourful and textured jewellery using techniques such as kiln fired enamel, copper, etching, repousse, stone setting and metal patinas.
I have a BH(Hons) woven textile degree from the Scottish College of Textiles but have developed my silversmithing and jewellery designs over the last 10 years whilst bringing up my family. I enjoy working with semi precious gemstones and Czech glass beads to compliment the copper and sterling silver.
I make rings, earrings, bangles, pendants, and welcome commissions.
I am also working on a new collection of ring and trinket dishes using enamel and ceramic transfers.”
The next artist in our line-up for the ‘Spring Into Summer’ Art & Craft Fair on May 2nd in Inverkeithing is Lainy Allison. We are welcoming Lainy back to Inverkeithing as she also joined us for our event in December 2014, where her work was greatly admired.
Lainy is a highly versatile artist. As she expresses it, she:
“….explores a range of materials and tools from sculpture, painting, textile design to writing. Her work and images are extracted from an array of influences, history, culture, architecture, family, light, fire, water, organic and synthetic. With gesture, drawing out, layering, material and process, revelatory of each other, the making of the art is part of the content. Her art practice does not just become an image but a creation.”
Her work is exhibited in galleries and non-profit art spaces and has numerous collectors of her work. Lainy is a co-founder of CAD (Contemporary Arts in Dunfermline).
The fourth maker on our list of Bloomin’ Marvellous creative folk we’ll be welcoming to the ‘Spring Into Summer’ Art & Craft Fair on Saturday 2nd May in Inverkeithing is Earthen Images. Check out their website for images of their fun and delightful pottery animals, including dogs, highland cattle, pigs and sheep, and their most famous creation – the adorable ‘Methil Moggies’, as well as house signs and scenic plaques. Items are hand-crafted from stoneware clay and fired to high temperatures. This vitrifies the clay, making it frost proof and so suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
IAI welcomes back a maker who added a fresh twist to IAI’s last event. Hunter Aromatherapy is the third Bloomin’ Marvellous artist and crafter who will be joining us at our Spring Into Summer Art & Craft Fair on Saturday 2nd May 11am-5pm, Inverkeithing Civic Centre, Queen Street, KY11 1PA.
Hunter Aromatherapy has developed an exclusive new mix just for our May 2nd event, and available from that date. This is a room and body spray with the amazing ‘Spring Into Summer’ scents of Grapefruit, Spearmint and Rosemary. So refreshing!
Hunter Aromatherapy makes natural products using essential oils, with no harsh chemicals or preservatives. Body and Room Sprays, Marigold and Shea Butter Moisturising Cream, Clay Diffusers and so much more, all with the delightful aromas of nature….
Next in our line-up – scrumptious knitted items hand crafted by Black Rock Textiles. Appearing at the Spring Into Summer Art & Craft Fair, Saturday 2nd May 11am-5pm, Inverkeithing Civic Centre, Queen Street, KY11 1PA
“We specialise in knitted home accessories and some for people too! Designed and made in Scotland we offer unique designs and a made-to-order service. Made using Scottish yarns and locally sourced fabrics.” Black Rock Textiles
From the website: “Working from our studio, we take inspiration from the small pleasures in life. From tiny shells found on the beach to big skies. We find inspiration around us every day.”
