Creative Activities at Maker
2a, High Street, Inverkeithing
There has been much activity recently at Maker, Inverkeithing’s dedicated space for socially engaged and creative activities.
Local artist Rosie Gibson has continued teaching her brilliant ‘Drawing for Fun’ course, based on exercises which challenge the right side of the brain to observe and describe what it sees. She has run the course with two groups, and looks set to continue well into 2018, with the potential for more groups to begin the course. Her current students have thoroughly enjoyed practicing the processes and techniques Rosie introduces – and in return have surprised themselves by creating really beautiful drawings.
Artist, illustrator and writer Jeanne Dron has developed our Tuesday drop-in drawing sessions into a wonderful opportunity for people to gather, talk, learn skills and techniques, and develop their own creativity. Participants have found the sessions to be extremely valuable for both skills-learning and as a sociable activity. Jeanne will also be running a workshop on June 17th ‘An Introduction to Needlefelting’ which will include learning techniques such as wet felting and making felt pictures. For more details about this class see our website www.inverkeithngarts.org or contact us at info@inverkeithingarts.org.
Maker has also been the scene of meditation workshops with Jan McLaughlan (Juniper-J Therapies). These have been popular, proving that Maker is also an excellent and inspiring space for activities which develop personal growth and resilience-building – even without even picking up a pencil! Jan will be starting some new weekly meditations workshops later in the summer so do get in touch if this is of interest to you.
To find out more about any of the above activities email us at info@inverkeithingarts.org or call 01383 271839. There will be more workshops and classes advertised in the near future on our website www.inverkeithingarts.org so don’t forget to check it out, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
