Central Fife Open Studios 2019

Mary Farrell and Jane Francis will be taking part in Central Fife Open Studios again this September at Maker. The open studios are open for 2 weekends this year, to give visitors more opportunity to visit more of the artists they are interested in. The dates are Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th and Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th. The doors will be open from 10am – 6pm on all four days. Two of the thirty artists and makers taking part, Mary and Jane will be showing some of the work they’ve been working on over the past year, and discussing with visitors their inspirations and creative processes. You can pick up a brochure in Maker, with details of how to find all thirty participants across central Fife.

A big thank you!

To all our visitors to Maker over the Central Fife Open Studios weekend on 1st and 2nd September. Your interest and enthusiasm in our work, and your continued support of artists and makers in Central Fife was inspirational! Many of you took the time to listen to us talk about our work, as well as admiring it, and that is incredibly helpful in itself for our creative process. Our individual web and facebook sites are:

nearly ready – CFOS 2018

Mary Farrell and Jane Francis have been busy today getting last minute things ready for the Central Fife Open Studios event CFOS 2018 at Maker, 2a High Street, Inverkeithing. They’ll be there all day Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September so if you fancy coming in to have a look at what they’ve been up to as artists and makers over the last year…

Central Fife Open Studios – 2018

Mary Farrell and Jane Francis will be in Maker on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September, 10am -6pm, as they are taking part in this great open doors event across central Fife. The concept behind CFOS is that artists and makers across the region invite the public into their studios. Some artists view the event as an opportunity to get new finished work out into the public arena and get in touch with new and old customers, while others see it as an opportunity to get feedback on their current work. Whatever you find going on in the studios, ts a wonderful opportunity to go for a jaunt around the area and pop in to see artists and makers in situ.

Jane Francis

This year Jane has been developing some of the concepts she has been thinking about since 2016, and has been making artist’s books, oil painting and perfume! She welcomes anyone who would like to come and chat about her work during this development phase. She will have some prints and cards for sale and maybe a painting or two!

Mary Farrell

Mary will be showing some of her latest jewellery designs, inspired by her fascination with natural forms. She will also have examples of some of her best loved collections for sale during the weekend.

Turning paintings into prints

Jane Francis – “I’ve recently taken the exciting step of having some of my artwork professionally copied and made into prints and greeting cards, hopefully making my work more accessible to a larger audience.”

Has anybody else had experience with turning their artwork into prints and/or cards? Did you manage to reach out to a wider audience; what were your experiences with quality of prints, and how did having this done effect your practice as an artist?

You’ll find Jane’s prints and cards at Maker, 2a High Street Inverkeithing, and My Cherry Pie at 301 High Street Kirkcaldy.
