Inverkeithing Arts Initiative 2014 – 2022

Inverkeithing Arts Initiative is winding down the organisation in the coming months.

Over the past 7 ½ years we have had the great pleasure of being part of the Inverkeithing Community. We have enjoyed meeting and working with so many talented local artists through community projects, classes and workshops. Through the shop at Maker we have supported the creative economy by showing the work of many amazing local artists.

However, after much thought and discussion, we have realised that it is time for Mary, Jane and Rosie to refocus their energies on their own work and projects. It is the right time to draw Inverkeithing Arts Initiative to a close.

The gallery/shop at Maker will cease trading from March 19th, and the workshop & exhibition space will remain in use until the end of June, to give us time for ongoing projects, and to allow time for our art groups to find alternative venues.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey, shared with us their remarkable talent and creativity, and supported us since we began in 20t14.

We will continue to post about our projects here on the IAI website blog and on our Facebook page until the end of June 2022.

-8-80 Exhibition

We are excited about our upcoming exhibition – 8 – 80 – Drawing for Fun.  It features the work of five young artists and seven young-at-heart artists who participated in the Drawing for Fun Kids, Beginners and Development classes last Autumn at Maker.

Advanced students took on diverse themes such as Umbria, Elasticity and Openings!  Kids embraced exercises like drawing upside down, using a viewfinder and doing 1-1 scale charcoal sketches of giant cutlery loaned by Gulshan’s Indian Restaurant.  Adult beginners were as enthusiastic as ever and rose to the challenge of drawing with humour and tenacity.

Our Kid’s classes were supported by Fife Cultural Trust and the Common Good Fund. And following their success we will be offering more kids classes after Easter.

Creative Play & Family Heirloom

Remember to pop in to Maker to make your bid for this beautifully hand crafted and totally unique doll’s house, created by retired local teacher Sandy Stephen. A wonderful opportunity to give a special child hours of creative play, while adopting a new family heirloom. It’s been delightful seeing children’s faces light up as they gaze at  the house in Maker’s window!

All proceeds from the sale will go towards running costs for children’s art classes at Maker, and other worthwhile projects, keeping costs down and increasing accessibility as much as possible.

To make a secret bid, pop in to Maker Thursday-Saturday 10am-5.30pm or email info@inverkeithingarts.org. We invite bids of £100+ to reflect the skill, workmanship and materials invested in making this stunning doll’s house. The new owner of the house will be announced at 2pm on Saturday 15th December.
