Visiting The Ave

IMG_4551

Visitors to photographer Leanna Tanner’s exhibition at Maker have been really enjoying her work, often prompted to recall their own memories of childhood and adolescence. Her images evoke a sense of specific place, as well as a universality and multitude of experience. The children in her images express incredible vivacity, physical confidence, and a sense of joy and freedom. Her photography of the landscape and streetscape of Fraser Avenue as it changes during the re-building process have also been much admired, in particular a spectacular image of the iconic three Forth Bridges from a perspective normally not visible to tourists.

Leanna’s work is cross-disciplinary, incorporating stylised techniques of fashion photography with the narrative approach of visual story telling. She works with local make-up artists and stylists, and actively encourages photographic subjects to contribute to the content and direction of her image making.

The exhibition is supported by Inverkeithing Arts Initiative and Kingdom Housing Association’s Community Initiative Fund.

The exhibition will run from September 15th – October 5th, 2018 in our gallery space at 2a High Street, Inverkeithing. During the run of the current exhibitio, ‘THE AVE’, Maker will extend its opening hours to include Wednesday afternoons.

Temporary Hours are as follows:
Wednesdays 1 – 5.30 pm
Thurs- Sat 10.am – 5.30 pm

Leanna Turner – The Ave

September 15th – October 5th, 2018

Photographic artist Leanna Tanner is staging her first solo exhibition of work at Maker, Inverkeithing. The exhibition will run from September 15th – October 5th, 2018 in our gallery space at 2a High Street, Inverkeithing.

Leanna’s project shines a light on the regeneration area of Fraser Avenue, acknowledging the history of lives lived and their stories. Her beautiful, contemporary and celebratory images illustrate her own experience of childhood and encourage participants to contribute to the continuing story of Fraser Avenue’s history.

Leanna’s work is cross-disciplinary, incorporating stylised techniques of fashion photography with the narrative approach of visual story telling. She works with local make-up artists and stylists, and actively encourages photographic subjects to contribute to the content and direction of her image making.

Leanna’s wish was to stage her first exhibition of creative work in her own community of Inverkeithing, and we are delighted to encourage an emerging local artist to exhibit her work at Maker, home base for Inverkeithing Arts.
